Shreena J. Desai, D.O.

Originally from Connecticut, Dr. Shreena J. Desai brings a unique engineering and integrative medicine background to her allergy and immunology practice. Dr. Desai earned her Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Connecticut, where she received a full Leadership Scholarship and specialized in Biomedical Engineering with a concentration in Chemical and Materials Science. She then pursued a Master of Science in Physiology and Biophysics with a focus on Complementary and Alternative Medicine at Georgetown University before earning her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine, where she was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society.

Dr. Desai completed her Internal Medicine residency through the Global Health Track at Jackson Memorial Health System, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, and the Bruce W. Carter Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Miami. She served as a Hospitalist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Hospital Medicine at the University of Miami Health before pursuing her passion for Allergy & Immunology. She is currently completing her Allergy & Immunology Fellowship at Memorial Healthcare System/Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in Hollywood, Florida, with an expected completion in June 2025.

Dr. Desai is board certified in Internal Medicine and has been recognized for her clinical research, receiving the American College of Physicians Florida Chapter Resident Clinical Research Poster Winner award for her work on COVID-19 vaccine allergic reactions in healthcare workers. She was also selected for the prestigious Chrysalis Project Program by the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology. Her extensive research experience includes publications on immunological evaluations for pediatric transplant patients, hematopoietic stem cell cryopreservation, and phytonutrient modulation of inflammation related to cancer. She has presented at numerous national conferences including AAAAI, ACAAI, and the Clinical Immunology Society.

Dr. Desai is passionate about serving underserved communities, having participated in medical missions to Ghana and Peru, and regularly volunteers at homeless shelters in Miami. An accomplished marathon runner who has completed races in Key West, Miami, Hartford, New York City, Providence, Washington DC, and Central Park, Dr. Desai brings the same dedication and endurance to her patient care.

Dr. Desai currently resides in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
